To those readers who have read Parts I and II, of this three part series on the life and times of Major General Edwin Anderson “Ted” Walker, and think that the years 1961 and 1962 were riotous enough, I can only say to you, trust me, you haven’t seen anything yet.
In addition to the Department of Justice dropping its charges against him for insurgency, going on tour with the evangelist Hargis, and filing a petition with the Senate Judiciary Committee calling for an inquiry into his incarceration ordered by Bobby Kennedy, 1963 would start off with a bang, a very big bang, both figuratively and literally.
A Shot In The Dark
On the evening of Wednesday, April 10, 1963, someone fired a shot through the window of Walker’s residence at 4011 Turtle Creek Boulevard in Dallas, Texas. Walker was neither hit nor seriously injured as the bullet narrowly missed him. He described it thusly;
