Chris Ecklund, President and CEO of Ecklund Marketing Group and founder of Hamilton The City of Waterfalls movement documented 126 waterfalls within the Hamilton, Ontario area. In addition to the very visible Waterfalls Bus and family vacation packages, "Hamilton the City of Waterfalls" also provides guided Waterfalls Walks many along the Bruce Trail or many of its connecting side trails.
For years only a handful of people realized what tremendous natural beauty resided in Hamilton's 126 waterfalls. However today through efforts of people like Chris Ecklund the word is getting out. Ecklund's research shows that Hamilton has the largest concentration of waterfalls in the world.
As the Niagara Escarpment follows the elbow of Lake Ontario into Hamilton it enters a highly urban area making its preservation more critical. Locally, this portion of the escarpment is known as "The Mountain".
